songs hw

Charles Mingus – The Chill of Death
This was a fairly dark piece. The music starts being kind of scary, but when the person speaking starts to narrate, it turns to a nice background music which at times fits very well and at times it seems a bit off. Definitely feels like not only the narrator, but also the music is telling a story. Not sure what wind instrument(s) it is, but it's very well done. Also feels something made a long time ago.

James Brown – The Big Payback
I thought it was a pretty happy song, considering it's about payback and backstabbing.  Feels a bit like rap, but not quite. Maybe the first steps in that direction of it. The base feels a bit monotonous and the lyrics aren't really creative either but I can understand why people could like this.

Parliament Funkadelic- Mothership Connection
This was probably my favorite one of all the songs due so far. Very catchy base and lyrics. The wind instruments are well put together with the drums and the other sounds in the base, everything fits very well. Feels very funky and something that you could jam to in the car probably.

John Coltrane- My Favorite Things
I didn't really understand this piece, it didn't really mean anything to me. The piano was nice, but I can't really say anything nice about it, it didn't get to me in any way or feeling. I'd think it could make a nice background music for someone walking down a street in a movie or something, or maybe in a videogame.. But not something i'd listen to just because.
