Listening assignment Fela Kuti, Bjork, Radiohead...

Fela Kuti- Zombie
This song is very fast pace and upbeat. It has this jazzy ,yet disco vibe to it as well. While initially listening to it, I thought it was only going to be just instruments, but at about halfway they insert the vocals. The vocals are very hard to understand, the only thing a can fully understand is a group saying “Zombie”.

Bjork- Pagan Poetry
I’ve heard of the artist Bjork before but never actually listened to any of her songs .But, wow this song was very stunning. The sounds themselves are very ominous and as it progresses it gives me this melancholic feeling. In addition, to the vocals are beautiful sung and is very powerful. This song has me interested in the other music this artist has to offer.

Radiohead- Idioteque
when it comes to Radiohead songs they’re usually hit or miss for me. In this instance, I think it’s a hit for me. I’m a big fan of music that sounds similar to this. This is the type of music I would listen to when I just want be by myself. In addition, I’m glad this song sounded consistent throughout, instead of ruining it by drastically changing up the beat or tempo by the end.

Led Zeppelin- Whole lotta Love
I’ve never got into listening to Led Zeppelin and I’m surprised I didn’t since many of my friends are huge fans. Altogether, this sounds like your standard rock sound with amazing sounds from the guitar, drums and the vocals.

Captain Beefheart- Moonlight on Vermont

This was an interesting song. The main thing that stands out in this track is the guitar and the vocals. The vocals in particular had its own intriguing feel to. In a way I feel like the vocals seems more suitable in another genre.
