Listening Weekend Assignment: 02/20/2017

Fela Kuti - Zombie:
This was fun to listen to in the background while I did work, because there were no lyrics to distract me, well until the middle. It’s not that I’m not a fan of jazz, but I have never really taken the time to listen to it before. But with this I was pleasantly surprised. Even though I didn't fully understand what Fela was saying, It was still a nice listening too, And made me appreciate it even more when I found out what a huge impact this song had, had on people in Nigeria

Bjork - Pagan Poetry:
Loved this one the most out of all the songs. Bjork’s style is different from modern pop icons and I can appreciate that. She has such a beautiful voice, that goes well with her beautiful music videos. Speaking of her music after we were assigned to listen to this song, I took the time to listen to her other pieces and watch the videos that went along. She seems to have this theme of the same set of colors and her being naked while singing. Which to me is wonderful, it shows that she has nothing to hide under and gives it her all, she doesn't need fancy cloths or make up to have a good video, because her voice does it all.

Radiohead - Idioteque:
I really like the beat of this song, but I feel as if the lyrics can get a little too repetitive. Mainly because everything is sang in the same tone, if I was no looking at the lyrics while listening to this. I would have thought he was just mumbling the same set of words. But I love how the music video incorporated 2D ambition along with the live action setting.

Led Zeppelin - Whole Lotta Love:
My parents used to listen to this song all the time, hence as to why I have nothing bad or wrong to say about it, it’s just a fun song. Like, you cant help but play the air guitar or drums while listening to this. The timing of the song and the instruments they use are just so nice and flow so well with each other.

Captain Beefheart - Moonlight in Vermont:

Well for starters I'm loving the fish human. Along with how natural and raw his voice is while he sings. No autotune or special effects, just pure raw talent .
