Today's Notes 2.18.13

Pat collected last Thursday homework assignment on the USB. For every day your homework is late there will be a penalty.

Don't forget if you made an 80 or lower on the quiz, you need do some form of remedial work. (what idk)

Thursday we will remix using a .midi file of your choice. Pick something you like, perhaps a popular song. It needs to be a midi sequence not just a file.
EX:  hitmebabyonemoretime.mid

Also try to get the .wav/.aip/.flac of that track. To use as a reference.

Filters you need to get friendly for : High Pass, Low Pass, Band Pass, and Notch

Let's talk about music genres:
Pop Punk: My Chemical Romance, Green Day
Classical: ??? Veganese Schools?
Classic Rock: Fleetwood mack
Rhythm and Blues: Frank Ocean
Indie Pop: The Neighborhood
The point of this example is to show how important it is to know your genres as an audio designer.

Pick one of these songs to blog about, comment and deconstruct it. But listen to all of them.

Tom Dowd - Layla
Phil Spector -Wall of Sound
Brian Wilson- Pet Sounds, Good Vibrations, God only Knows
George Martin - Sargent Pepper's Lonely Heart Band (Strawberry Fields Forever)
Lee Hazelwood - Some Velvet Morning  did in class

EX:
intro: strings then bass, voice with hum
mans:  reverb, drum beat, the violin follows his vocals
female: vocals(much softer), higher pitched instrumental while the girl sings,
a tango of music with two different times signatures. (dichotomy)

HOMEWORK:
