Listening - Fela Kuti/Bjork/Radiohead/Led Zeppelin/Captain Beefheart

Fela Kuti - Zombie: This artists puts together African rhythm and style with Jazz influences and adds an anti-war/political theme. This combination made it possible for him to hit the mainstream and become a global presence.

Bjork - Pagan Poetry: This song is a great example of Bjork's style. Her spacey, futuristic production goes along with her loose flowing vocals that never seem to hit the same pattern twice.

Radiohead - Idioteque: The production in this track reminds me of a lot of Aphex Twin's style. The robotic sound and feel of the drums mixed with haunting chords that change pitch and volume and odd times gives it a glitchy feel.

Led Zeppelin - Whole Lotta Love: This staple of rock and roll has all the typical traits of the genre. Loud drums, power chords, and screaming vocals. One of my favorite parts of the track is towards the middle where it gets spacey with a lot of strange noises.

Captain Beefheart - Moonlight on Vermont: This music seems pretty avante garde for its time. It takes the typical rock music that was becoming popular at the time and puts a strange spin on it with awkward rhythms. It's like if Led Zeppelin was Coca-Cola and someone dropped mentos into it.
