Csound is a c-based audio programming
language. It is called Csound because it is written in C, as opposed to the
programs before it. Even though it was started by a single man by the
name of Barry Vercoe, many developers have aided with its production. Csound takes two specially formatted text files as input called the orchestra and the
score. The orchestra describes
the instruments, and the score describes
the notes and the other parameters. Csound processes the both the orchestra and
the score and renders an audio file as output.
