Weekend Listening (3/1)

Genesis “The Carpet Crawlers”
  • I really enjoyed the lyrics and vocals in this piece they fit well with the almost mystical background instrumentals. I like the repetition of the line “you got to get in to get out” I found it to be a powerful line. This is a easy piece to listen to while working as it has a peaceful rhythm to it.

Yes “Long Distance Runaround”
  • This has a very happy upbeat beat that slows down slightly when the vocals come in as well as gets a deeper tone which makes the whole piece a lot less happy.  Then the upbeatness returns during the vocal intramural. The lyrics describe the hardships of being in a long distance and how it can abruptly stop working if the two people are unable to connect at such a distance.

Pink Floyd “One Of These Days”
  • I love the beat in the beginning along with the windy background noise. I also love how more and more instruments begin to layer themselves overtop to create the final effect.
