I enjoyed last class with a brief history of digital and analog audio design. But I think that http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jean_Michele_Jarre should have been noticed too :-)
His work has influenced me very much. A long time ago I was spending hours listening to his music that is 99% made using synthesizers. And while "listening to the music" for hours does not sound extreme nowadays, but that means that I was listening to the music and was not doing anything else. Today people usually listen to the music while doing something else like riding the bus or listening a lecture.. I prefer to completely dedicate myself to the process.
For the project I would like to extend my digital synthesizer written in Java by adding support for the communication with Pure Data and some external devices like keyboards.
